INSTALLATION AND OPERATION OF THE PROCESS FLOW DEMONSTRATION PROGRAM

The "PROCESS" demonstration program is provided to illustrate some of the capabilities of the ITGraph(tm) custom control. In order to run the PROCESS demo, you need to have the ITGRAPH.VBX, PROCESS.EXE, PROCESS.ITG and SUBPROC.ITG files in a directory (e.g., a PROCESS directory created for running the demo). Alternatively, the ITGRAPH.VBX file can be placed in your WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory.
The PROCESS demonstration illustrates the flow for a simple order receipt and fulfillment process. Two levels of process are provided, with the second level process accessed by double-clicking on the node of interest (in this demonstration program, the second level process is provided for only one node -- the "Accounting Department").
The demonstration features an automatic sequencing option, in which each item of the process flow chart will be selected, in order of their involvement in the order receipt and fulfillment process. This option is available for the first level of the flow chart only. Item selection (clicking on an item) and shifting to the second level view of an item (double-clicking on an item) are both disabled during automatic sequencing.
********* OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS *********
TO VIEW THE CHARACTERISTICS OF A SELECTED NODE: Click on the node of interest. Its fill color will change to yellow, and the characteristics will be displayed in the box at the bottom of the screen.
TO VIEW THE SECOND LEVEL DETAILS OF A SELECTED NODE: Double-click on the node of interest (this feature is supported for the "Accounting Department" node only". The process flow for the selected node will then appear. The first-level chart will be shrunk to a small size and placed at the upper right-hand corner of the screen, with the selected node fill color set to red.
TO RETURN TO THE FIRST LEVEL FROM THE SECOND LEVEL: Double-click anywhere on the chart area.
TO INITIATE AUTOMATIC SEQUENCING: Click on the CONTROL-RUN menu item.
TO TEMPORARILY SUSPEND AUTOMATIC SEQUENCING: Click on the CONTROL-PAUSE menu item.
TO RESUME AUTOMATIC SEQUENCING: Click on the CONTROL-CONTINUE menu item.
TO STOP AUTOMATIC SEQUENCING: Click on the CONTROL-STOP menu item.
TO EXIT THE PROCESS DEMONSTRATION PROGRAM: Click on the CONTROL-EXIT menu item.
********* MENU ITEMS *********
The operation of the PROCESS demonstration program is controlled by use of the items in the "CONTROL" menu. A brief description of the operation of the items in this menu are provided below.
CONTROL-INTERVAL: Provides a sub-menu for choosing the length of time that the system will dwell on each node during automatic sequencing. Interval lengths of 1, 2 and 4 seconds are available, selected by choosing the corresponding item in the CONTROL-INTERVAL submenu.
CONTROL-RUN: Initiates automatic sequencing (the menu item changes to read "CONTROL-STOP").
CONTROL-STOP: Available during automatic sequencing only. Clicking on this menu item at this point will cause automatic sequencing to terminate (the menu item changes read "CONTROL-RUN").
CONTROL-PAUSE: Temporarily suspends automatic sequencing (the menu item changes to read "CONTROL-CONTINUE"). Clicking and double-clicking on a node both are enabled at this time.
CONTROL-CONTINUE: Resumes automatic sequencing.
CONTROL-EXIT: Exits the PROCESS demonstration program.
